An Indian Wedding
An Indian wedding is an occasion of great celebration. It is not merely a marriage of boy with a girl, it is a sacred union of two families also. It is not merely a marriage of two individuals but also a marriage of two souls. It is not only a marriage that takes place in this lite but also that lasts for all lives to come. Days before the marriage, festivities begin in both the families. Most Indian weddings are solemnised during the night. The bridegroom reaches the brides house in a grand procession. Traditionally he rides a mare. The marriage party is given a warm reception by the bride's side. The bride and the bridegroom garland each other. After this, there is a grand marriage feast. The bride and the bridegroom then sit in front of a holy fire and the family priest recites mantras. The bride and the bridegroom take seven rounds of the holy fire and pledge to remain faithful to each other. Thus the wedding ceremony comes to an end. The bride goes with the bridegroom loaded with gifts from the parents and friends.
